PlayStation Showcase Disappoints Fans

The PlayStation Showcase this year had a lot riding on it as the last one was almost 2 years ago. Looking over the chatter on YouTube, Reddit and Twitter, fans weren’t happy. Expectations were a bit high as usual but not delivering on any new exclusive announcement certainly raised some concerns.

In other news, most of the games that were shown were multi-platform. XBOX even Tweeted right after the showcase was over.

PlayStation fans took to Twitter and complained about the following announcements not being there.

  • The Last of Us: Factions
  • Bloodborne Remaster/ PC port
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Ghost of Tsushima PC port
  • Wolverine
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

There were quite a few games though. 

  • Spider-Man 2 – The sequel to the successful Spider-Man developed by Naughty Dog. Launching Fall 2023 exclusively on PS5
  • Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater – A remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The launch date is unknown. Platforms: PC, XBOX Series S/X and PS5
  • Alan Wake 2 – Play as the writer, Alan Wake, and the FBI agent, Saga Anderson. Explore two realities, and solve a deadly mystery before it’s too late. Launching on October 17th 2023. Platforms – PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Fairgames – Fairgames is a competitive modern heist game where you team up to break into exotic locations and steal the cargo. Unknown launch date. Platforms: PC and PS5
  • Helldivers 2 – A third-person co-op shooter. Launching in 2023. Platforms: PC and PS5
  • Immortals of Aveum – A single-player first-person magic shooter, where you’ll master three colors of magic and unleash spells. Launching on July 20th 2023. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Phantom Blade 0 – A new Action RPG featuring deep and dark art style, fast-paced combat, and a fictitious world blending Chinese martial arts and steampunk. Unknown launch date. Platforms – PC, Xbox Series X|S And PS5
  • Sword of the Sea – You are the Wraith – resurrected in a desolate world and tasked with restoring life to it as you explore submerged ruins and the vibrant, varied cultures within. Surf through sinking tombs, mysterious shipwrecks, and petrified battlefields – and bring giant shoals of fish and creatures back in the process. Unknown launch date. Platforms: PC and PS5
  • The Talos Principle 2 – The Talos Principle 2 greatly expands on the original with more mind-bending puzzles to solve, new puzzle mechanics, a richer storyline and more secrets to uncover. Launching in 2023. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Marathon – From the creators of Halo and Destiny comes a new sci-fi PVP extraction shooter. Unknown launch date. Platforms: PC and PS5
  • Neva – Experience the tale of a young woman and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf as they embark on a thrilling adventure through a dying world. Launching in 2024. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch
  • Towers of Aghasb – Rebuild an ancient civilization and revitalize the land in this gorgeous 3rd person adventure from Dreamlit Games, coming in 2024. Platforms – PC and PS5
  • Street Fighter 6 – Street Fighter 6 launches June 2nd on PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage – In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. Launching on October 12th 2023. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Revenant Hill – The year is 1919. After the barn he was living in burns down, Twigs the cat takes up residence in a wet log near an abandoned graveyard. When the owl from the next hill over starts demanding rent, Twigs must find a way to make ends meet, and things just get more complicated from there. Unknown launch date. Platforms: PC and PS5
  • Concord – A new PVP multiplayer first-person shooter from Firewalk Studios launching on PS5 and PC in 2024
  • Ultros – A 2D psychedelic sci-fi journey. Launches in 2024. Platforms: PC, PS5 abd PS4
  • Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Cygames’ upcoming action RPG. Launching in 2023 Winter. Platforms: PC, PS4 and PS5
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Dragon’s Dogma is a single-player, narrative-driven action-RPG that challenges the players to choose their own experience. Unknown launch date. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Destiny 2: The Final Shape – A Destiny 2 expansion. Cayde-6 is back. Unknown launch date.
  • Ghostrunner 2 –  The highly anticipated katana-slashing, cyberpunk sequel. Launching in 2023. Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
