The PS5 Pro Runs Ray Traced Games at 1080p 60 FPS with an RDNA 3.5 GPU & PSSR

The Sony PlayStation 5 Pro is on track for a late 2024 release. As reported earlier today, the refreshed console will feature a slightly faster CPU and an upgraded RDNA 3.5 GPU. Internally, the company is targeting 4K 120 FPS and 8K 60K using the “new” Spectral Super Resolution upscaler, but that’s likely down the line (on the PS6). The PS5 Pro will render most titles at 1080p 60 FPS with ray tracing and 1440p 60 FPS without it.

Internally, Sony is aware that the PS5 Pro won’t go past 4K 60 FPS even with PSSR due to hardware limitations. That task will fall to the PS6 and its successors, which will likely feature a Zen 5 CPU and an RDNA 4 GPU. A couple of case studies comparing the performance of the PS5 Pro to the PS5 are included:
