AMD Ryzen 9 9950X “Zen 5” 37% Faster than the 7950X with 6 GHz Boost Clocks, Claims Rumor

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 processors may be even more impressive than we initially thought. According to the YouTube channel “RedGamingTech,” the Zen 5 chips are considerably faster than their Zen 4 predecessors. The Ryzen 9000 (Granite Ridge) CPUs are allegedly 30-40% faster than the Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) family, offering solid gains in single and multi-threaded performance. Despite leveraging the same core counts (up to 16) and process node (TSMC 4nm), we may see a 40-50% performance uplift in certain workloads.

The YouTuber claims that the Ryzen 9 9950X scores roughly 3000 points in the Cinebench 2024 benchmark (multi-core), followed by the Ryzen 9 9900X with 2200 points. That adds up to a generational uplift of 37% and 35% over the Ryzen 9 7950X and 7900X, respectively.

These numbers place the 9950X at a comfortable distance (ahead) from Intel’s Core i9-14900K, with an approximate 36% lead. The Ryzen 9 9900X lands closer to the Core i9, with a slim 9% advantage over the Core i7-14700K.

In the single-threaded benchmark, the Ryzen 9000 CPUs are ~40% faster than the Ryzen 7000 flagships, with a palpable 20-30% lead over 14th Gen Core i7 and i9 Raptor Lake-R chips. The single-threaded numbers are quite high for a generation upgrade, so take them with a grain of salt.

The YouTuber has backed Kepler_L2‘s Zen 5 SpecINT performance, claiming that a 40-50% uplift in integer workloads is very much on point. This would imply that a Ryzen 9 9950X should be 50% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X. Similarly, a 96-core Epyc Turin chip should be 50% faster than a 96-core Genoa.
