AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs Discounted Across the Board: $300 Off on R9 5950X, Cheaper than the Core i9-12900KF

Following the sudden plummet in the prices of NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series GPUs, AMD has also started a portfolio-wide clearance sale. The Ryzen 5000 CPUs are down to their lowest market prices since launch with the R9 5950X going for just $499, down from its MSRP of $799. The octa-core Ryzen 7 5800X has come down to $289, $160 off its launch price of $449, nearly the same as the $279 Intel Core i5-12600K. These Zen 3 parts now have a better performance per dollar ratio than its Intel rivals.

Similarly, the Ryzen 9 5900X has dropped to $358, down from its original MSRP of $549. Its closest rival, the Core i7-12700KF can be had for an additional $20 despite featuring just 8 performance cores, 12 overall.

Finally, we have the Ryzen 9 5950X which debuted for $799 and has now tumbled to just $499, $50-100 over the Intel Core i9-12900KF. It’s worth noting that both are 16-core SKUs with the latter featuring just 8 performance cores with the remaining being low-power efficiency cores. The 5950X is powered solely by the “big” Zen 3 cores, resulting in higher overall multi-threaded performance.l
