The specifications of Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop budget offering, the Core i5-15400F (Core Ultra 5 240F) have leaked out. The Core Ultra 5 240F will succeed the Core i5-13400F and the 14400F with the same core counts, minus hyperthreading. Therefore, Intel’s 15th Gen Arrow Lake budget CPU will feature 14 cores (6P + 8E) and 14 threads. This might result in embarrassing results in heavily threaded compute-bound workloads where hyperthreading helped mask the pipeline stalls.
According to @xinoassassion1, the entry-level Arrow Lake-S desktop CPU will feature 6 “Lion Cove” P-cores and 8 “Skymont” E-cores fabbed on the Intel 20A process node. The Core Ultra 5 240F will be derived from the 8+16 and the 6+8 core tile. As per previous rumors, the 8+16 die will be fabbed on TSMC’s 3nm “N3B” process node, while the 8+6 die will be a product of Intel 20A.
Consequently, we might be able to compare Intel’s latest process node to one of TSMC’s leading-edge offerings. Arrow Lake will feature up to 24 cores and 24 threads (8P + 16E) but all the higher-end Core i5/i9 (Core Ultra 7/9) SKUs will allegedly be based on TSMC’s 3nm process, limiting Intel’s 20A to the midrange Core i5 non-K parts.

The Arrow Lake K series parts are slated to land later this year, but the non-K lineup will likely arrive in 2025. Ergo, 20A may not make its first appearance in 2024, but 2025 instead.
