NVIDIA’s Lovelace lineup has started racing to the starting line. Leveraging the TSMC 4nm “N4” process and a core count of over 18,000 cores alongside (up to) 48GB of GDDR6X memory, these chips are expected to crack the 100 TFLOPs barrier. While the RTX 4090/4090 Ti will be 2x faster than the RTX 3090/3090 Ti, the RTX 4080 and 4070 will apparently be a milder upgrade.
As per @kopite7kimi, the GeForce RTX 4070 should score 10,000 points in TimeSpy Extreme, putting it on par with the RTX 3090. Compared to the RTX 3070, this is a 50% uplift in performance which is fairly decent for a generational upgrade. The RTX 4080 ought to have a score of 15,000 points, 35% more than the RTX 3090 Ti and 70% more than the RTX 3080.

It’s important to note that while the 3DMark benchmark of the RTX 4090 is real, these scores are an estimation on part of the tipster. Therefore, some variations are almost certain. Looking at the specifications of the AD102, AD103, and AD104 dies, these figures make perfect sense. In fact, the delta between the RTX 4070 and 4090 should be even wider unless there’s some bottleneck in the architecture. NVIDIA plans on launching the RTX 4090 in September and the RTX 4080 either in December or January. The RTX 4070 should land in the first quarter of 2023.
