Intel Disables DirectX 12 Games on 4th Gen Core iGPUs to Patch Security Vulnerability

Games and applications leveraging the DirectX 12 API will no longer work on Intel’s 4th Gen Core iGPUs (Haswell) starting with driver v15.40.44.5107. The following integrated graphics solutions are affected:

The reason behind the block is a potential security vulnerability in the iGPUs of these processors which may allow escalation of privilege. Intel has released a software update to mitigate this potential vulnerability. In order to mitigate the vulnerability, DirectX 12 capabilities were disabled.

If you absolutely need to run DirectX 12 applications on these processors’ integrated graphics solutions for whatever reason, you can downgrade the driver to version 15.40.42.5063 or older.
