Intel Core i9-14900KS will Run at 6.4GHz on MSI Z790 Motherboards

Intel’s 14th Gen Core i9-14900KS which is scheduled to launch in the coming weeks will allegedly run at 6.4GHz on high-end MSI motherboards. The 14900KS is a higher binned variant of the 14900K which technically is a binned i9-13900K. At stock settings, the 14th Gen KS chip is expected to offer a single-core boost clock of 6.2GHz. MSI (and other AIBs) will likely offer “1-click overclock” options that push the 14900KS even higher.

In the above screenshot (courtesy of @g01d3nm4ng0), you can see that the latest firmware update allows MSI users to push higher-end Core i9s to 6.4GHz using predefined OC presets. While most 14900K samples won’t sustain such a high overclock, the 14900KS likely will. Of course, you’ll need a high-end 360mm AIO cooler or an open-loop solution to keep the CPU from throttling, but that’s another matter altogether.

The Core i9-14900KS is expected to launch later this month at an MSRP of $749. A slightly better binned 14900K for an additional $200.
