Intel’s 13th Gen Raptor Lake-HX processors have surfaced over at the Geekbench 5 database. The Core i9-13980HX will lead the high-performance mobility lineup with 24 cores and 32 threads. Featuring 8 “Raptor Cove” P-cores and 16 “Gracemont” E-cores, it’ll be the first notebook chip with a boost clock of 5.6GHz. Raptor Lake-HX will feature the BGA implementation of the desktop chips with a base package power of 55W. These high-performance notebook CPUs are derivatives of the Core i9-13900K, Core i7-13700K, Core i5-13600K, 13500, and 13400.
A Core i9-13980HX powering the MSI Raider GE78HX has posted impressive results. Its single-core performance exceeds the Core i9-12900HX by 14% while maintaining a lead of over 40% in the multi-core performance. The chip ran at a peak clock of 5.6GHz, indicating a retail-ready unit being prepped for launch. The SoC was paired with LPDDR5-5400 memory and benchmarked using the Windows’ “Balanced” power plan.
We should see the 13th Gen Raptor Lake-H and HX mobile processors at CES 2023 over the next few days. Notebooks featuring these chips should hit retail shelves sometime in the latter part of Q1.
