Intel Core i7-12700K Leads Alder Lake Sales as AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Keeps 12th Gen Out of Top 5

Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake-S processors have started to build up momentum in the retail market, with the Core i7-12700K leading the offensive. Ranked between 6th to 12th on the list of bestselling CPUs across Newegg, Amazon, and other key retailers across the world, the 12 core SKU is all set to go up against the Ryzen 9 5900X, its Zen 3 rival. Potent single-threaded performance paired with a competitive multi-threaded grunt and aggressive pricing is bound to make the 12700K a favorite among gamers and enthusiasts alike.

Amazon

On Amazon and Newegg, the Ryzen 5 5600X continues to be the most popular CPU, followed by the Ryzen 5 5600G on Amazon, and the Ryzen 9 5900X on Newegg. A step below, we have the Ryzen 7 5800X on both platforms. Therefore, the top four spots are still occupied by AMD’s Ryzen 5000 lineup.

Over at Newegg, all of the remaining spots on the top-10 chart are held by Intel parts, with the Core i7-12700K at #6. On Amazon, the Core i7-12700K comes in at #11, becoming the second most popular Intel SKU after the Core i4-10400.

Mindfactory Germany

At Germany’s largest retailer, the Ryzen 7 5800X dislodged the 5600X as the most popular processor. Regardless, the top 4 spots were still held by Ryzen 5000 CPUs. The Core i5-11400F at #5 was Intel’s bestselling chip, followed by the Core i7-12700K at #8. It’s worth noting that the latter still sold much less than its Zen 3 competitors. The 5800X sold over 700 units this week, but the 12700K was only able to sell 160.
