AMD’s Ryzen 7000 “Dragon Range” mobile processors look more impressive by the day. Leveraging a chiplet design based on the Zen 4 CCDs, they’ll bring desktop-grade performance to gaming notebooks in a portable form factor. A Geekbench 5 benchmark of the flagship has been spotted, giving us a preliminary estimate of the SKU’s capabilities.
The device in question is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16, featuring the Ryzen 9 7945HX alongside 32GB of DDR5 quad-channel memory. The CPU has a base clock of 2.5GHz and a peak single-core boost of 5.4GHz. The L3 cache is pegged at 64MB, equally distributed between the two CCDs.
The Dragon Range flagship posts impressive single and multi-core figures. With a single-core score of 2,127 points, it leads the Ryzen 9 6900HX, the fastest AMD mobile processor, by over 30%. Courtesy of the chiplet design, the multi-core performance is even more impressive. The Ryzen 9 7945HX is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor, boasting 19,403 points (vs. 10,0059 on the 6900HX).
Unlike the desktop space, AMD’s next-gen offerings will perform nearly the same as rival Intel Raptor Lake parts. The energy-efficient Zen 4 core architecture should have no trouble keeping up with the 13th Gen Core HX CPUs that run hot and loud.
