AMD Radeon RX 8700 XT “RDNA 4” May Be as Fast as the RX 7900 XT at Half the Price?

AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics cards will be limited to the midrange and low-end market segments. The Navi 4x family will consist of the Navi 44 and Navi 48 GPUs, powering the Radeon RX 8700 XT and lower. According to the latest rumors (via All The Watts!!), Navi 48 will be faster than the Radeon RX 7900 XT (lower-end Navi 31), although it could also refer to the RX 7900 GRE. RedGamingTech claims that Navi 48 will power the RX 8700 XT, implying it’ll be as fast as the 7900 XT at half the price ($449->$899).

Navi 44 is supposed to be significantly faster than Navi 33 (Hotpink Bonefish), offering comparable performance to Navi 32. Consequently, the Radeon RX 8600 series GPUs leveraging these chips should be as fast as the RX 7800 XT. If the 8700 XT competes with the 7900 XT, it’s only fair that the RX 8600 XT be on par with the 7800 XT. If true, we’ll get a <$299 GPU as fast as the $499 7800 XT.

The RX 8800 series will be Navi 31 Refresh with the same core/cache levels as the 7900 XTX, but with higher clocks. It’ll be interesting to see if AMD can clock it at 3GHz or higher. That said, please take these numbers with a healthy amount of skepticism, as we’re still months away from the official reveal.
