AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Drops to $699, $200 Less than MSRP: As Cheap as the RX 6800 XT

AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT has gotten another price cut, now selling for as low as $664 at Newegg. PowerColor is the first AIB to drop the pricing of its RX 7900 series GPUs under the $700 mark. The reference model and the PowerColor Hellhound Overclocked variant are now selling for $699 across all Microcenters. If you are a Microcenter cardholder, you can get another $35 off, bringing down the price to $664.99.

The reason for the decline is quite straightforward. Like the RTX 4070 and 4080, consumers largely ignored the 7900 XT in favor of the 7900 XTX. So much so that AMD might even release a Navi 31-based RX 7800 XT to salvage leftover dies as a result of the same.

Looking at the specs, the Hellhound will be faster on account of being factory overclocked. While the reference card maxes out at 2,400MHz, the PowerColor variant goes as high as 2,500MHz. Both GPUs have the same TBP and require a 750W power supply.

Being an aftermarket design, the PowerColor Hellhound is larger than its reference sibling. The latter is 10.90 inches long and 4.45 inches tall. The former is 2.4 inches longer at 13.31 inches and 5.79 inches tall. The Hellhound is also thicker, with a width of 62mm or 3 slots. The AMD model is 51mm or 2.55 slots thick.
