AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT May Suffer from Poor Clock Scaling, Much Like the 7900 XT: Fix Coming w/ RDNA 3 Refresh [Report]

We recently reviewed the Radeon RX 7900 XT to a mediocre conclusion, courtesy of limited clock scaling and poor power efficiency. Originally shared by “All the Watts”, Navi 31 suffers from a hardware flaw that ruined AMD’s plans of breaking the 3GHz barrier. The current variant tops under 2.7GHz with a hard limit of 2.8-2.9GHz on most dies, a massive downgrade from the originally planned 3.2-2.4GHz boost.

According to “All the Watts” on Twitter, Navi 33 suffers from the same bugs that plague Navi 31. Consequently, the Radeon RX 7700 XT may not break the 3GHz barrier either. The Radeon RX 7800 XT powered by the Navi 32 core is said to be the only RDNA 3 part that may fix these clock scaling issues.
