AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPUs up to 40% Faster in Ray Tracing with New Adrenalin Driver Update

AMD’s latest Adrenalin driver update promises ample performance improvements across various titles. On average, we’re talking about an FPS gain of up to 27% in ray-traced games, including F1 2022, Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc, compared to the October release.

On average, the Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs gain a performance uplift of nearly 20% across the “top five tested games”. The RX 6900 XT and 6600 XT benefit the most, becoming 20% faster, followed by the RX 6700 XT and 6600, gaining 18% and 19%, respectively.

We tested the Radeon RX 6800 XT in 3DMark’s DirectX Raytracing feature test and got promising results:

The Radeon RX 6800 XT is up to 40% faster with the new Adrenalin graphics driver. We see the average frame rate jump from 24.24 FPS to 33.45 FPS after installing the Adrenalin 23.2.1 driver. An impressive result, no matter how you look at it.

Unfortunately, it is plagued by some serious bugs. Many users, including us, had to contend with a BSOD, which was only fixed by a system restore. We recommend users wait till AMD releases a hotfix.
