Alan Wake 2 PC Specs: NVIDIA RTX 4080 for Path Tracing, AMD Radeon RX 7000 Missing From RT

The PC specifications for Alan Wake 2 are out. Being an NVIDIA title, it will feature a slew of ray-tracing technologies, including RTGI (Ray Traced Global Illumination), RT Shadows, RT Reflections, and full-fledged multi-bounce path-tracing at the higher RT presets. For 1440p rasterization, a GeForce RTX 3070 or a Radeon RX 6700 XT is recommended, targeting 60 FPS gameplay.

For 4K Ultra (without ray-tracing), you’ll need a GeForce RTX 4070 or a Radeon RX 7800 XT. Enabling ray-tracing increases the GPU requirements by a notch. The “Low” quality preset enables low-resolution ray-tracing and requires a GeForce RTX 3070 or a Radeon RX 6800 XT for 30 FPS, average.

Higher frame rate 60 FPS gameplay with ray-tracing “Low” and muti-bounce path-tracing requires a GeForce RTX 4070 and a blank on the AMD Radeon side. Path-tracing and “High” quality ray-tracing require a GeForce RTX 4080 and an understood “Not Recommended” for Radeon RX 7900 XTX users.

The CPU requirements for Alan Wake 2 are modest. You’ll need a Ryzen 7 3700X or an equivalent Intel chip (Core i7-9700K). Additionally, 16GB of main memory and 90GB of SSD storage are also needed for smooth gameplay.

Alan Wake 2 is an NVIDIA partner title featuring DLSS 3.5, Ray Reconstruction, and more. It’ll also include FSR 2 at release and possibly FSR 3 (at a later date).
