Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity 16GB Review

The launch of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super marks the entry of the second Ada Lovelace refresh into the market. Leveraging the AD103 GPU, the Ti Super resembles the RTX 4080 in the memory department. There’s still a palpable difference between the two on the shader side, especially if you factor in the fixed function units (Texture Mapping, Rasterizers, and RT). The RTX 4070 Ti Super targets 1440p and 4K gaming, edging closer to the latter due to its wider bus. It can be considered a defective 4080 repurposed into a slower variant.

Zotac Gaming RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity: 1440p Benchmarks

A Plague Tale: Requiem sees a minimal performance uplift with the RTX 4070 Ti Super, going from 77 FPS on the 4070 Ti to 81 FPS on the Super—meanwhile, the RTX 4080 averages 105.6 FPS in the same scenario.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla produces similar results, with an average of 143.6 FPS on the RTX 4070 Ti Super, up from 77.4 FPS on the 4070 Ti. The GeForce RTX 4080 nets 159 FPS in this benchmark.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a relatively old but reliable test. The Ti Super doesn’t perform any better in this game, barely edging past its predecessor with an average of 217 FPS (versus 213 FPS on the Ti). The RTX 4080 is notably faster, with an average of 235.7 FPS.

The Callisto Protocol averages 138 FPS on the RTX 4080 at 1440p “Ultra.” The RTX 4070 Ti nets 108 FPS, slightly lower than the 116 FPS on the Ti Super.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands produces identical results on the RTX 4070 Ti and the 4070 Ti Super. Both GPUs average 151152 FPS, markedly slower than the RTX 4080 (179 FPS).

Zotac Gaming RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity: 4K Benchmarks

At 4K, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super performs better, hinging closer to the RTX 4080. In “A Plague Tale,” we see an average of 46 FPS and 43 FPS from the Ti Super and the Ti, respectively. Meanwhile, the RTX 4080 posts a solid 57 FPS.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla averages 88.6 FPS on the 4070 Ti Super, a smidge less than the 94 FPS on the 4080. The 4070 Ti manages 78 FPS in this test, with a notably lower 1% percentile.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider produces a disappointing show on the 4070 Ti Super, averaging 116 FPS, up from 107 FPS on the 4070 Ti and significantly lower than the 145 FPS on the 4080.

The Callisto Protocol is more of the same, running slightly faster on the RTX 4070 Ti Super. The 4070 Ti manages an average of 65 FPS, trailing the 4070 Ti Super (69.6 FPS) and the 4080 (83.7 FPS).

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands places the RTX 4070 Ti Super squarely between the RTX 4070 Ti and the 4080. The Super averages 81.5 FPS, sandwiched between the 73 FPS and 96 FPS produced by the RTX 4070 Ti and 4080, respectively.

Conclusion: A Paltry Upgrade with an Awkward Name

In the first part of our review, we see that the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super behaves more like a factory-overclocked 4070 Ti rather than a “Ti Super.” The RTX 4080 is considerably faster despite leveraging the same memory sub-system. We’re likely looking at a shader-related bottleneck, possibly on the backend. Stay tuned for more benchmarks and an in-detail analysis of the Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super.
