Intel 13th Gen Core i9-13900K w/ 24 Cores and 32 Threads Spotted: Raptor Lake Coming Soon?

Intel’s (next-gen) 13th Gen Raptor Lake-S flagship has been spotted in the Bapco CrossMark database, marking its first “real-world” appearance on the internet. In line with the rumors, the Core i9-13900K packs 24 cores and 32 threads. Out of these eight are performance “P” cores, with the remaining sixteen being “E” efficiency cores. This is a big jump over Alder Lake’s eight efficiency and overall core count of 16, pretty much securing the chipmaker a top spot in multi-threaded workloads.

These benchmark figures are of an early engineering sample (ES), and the scores clearly indicate this. The SKU seems to be running at around 2GHz, making it hard to predict the actual performance statistics. We’ll have to wait a few more months to get a better picture of what Raptor Lake will offer.

According to recent rumors, Intel will reveal its 13th Gen Raptor Lake-S processors in August 2022 to fend off AMD’s Zen 4 offerings. The Z790 chipset and motherboards will also be launched alongside. We’re likely to see the K-series SKUs first, followed by the non-K offerings after a month or two. According to the source, Alder Lake and Raptor Lake will be inter-compatible with each other’s chipsets (600/700 series).

AMD will reportedly launch the Zen 4-based Ryzen 6000 processors in late July/early August along with the X670 motherboards. The budget B650 motherboards will arrive a month later. These CPUs will come with support for PCIe Gen 5 and DDR5 memory. DDR4 memory won’t be supported.
