NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3050 to Come w/ 8GB GDDR6 Memory, 2x More than the AMD Radeon RX 6500

NVIDIA will be one-upping AMD in the budget GPU segment by equipping the GeForce RTX 3050 with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. In contrast, the Radeon RX 6500 XT and 6400 will both come with 4GB of GDDR6 memory paired with a puny 64-bit bus, and 16MB of L3 cache. This decision is likely going to cost Team Red as pretty much every game consumes more than 4GB of VRAM at the higher texture settings, even at 1080p.

The GeForce RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti will be based on the GA106-150-A1 die. The former will come with 2,560-3,072 FP32 cores while the latter will push it up to 3,072. Both GPUs will be paired with a 128-bit bus and a boost clock of 1.7-1.8GHz. We can expect an unveiling at CES 2022, followed by the hard launch a few weeks later (late Jab/early Feb).
