AMD Radeon RX 6600 (Non-XT) More Efficient at Ethereum Mining than the RX 6600 XT

Sources close to WCCFTech have hinted that AMD’s upcoming “budget” GPU, the Radeon RX 6600 will be even more efficient at Ethereum mining than its XT sibling. Certain retailers have already gotten access to the GPU along with the beta graphics drivers from AMD, allowing us to have a peek at its Ether mining performance.

Back when the Radeon RX 6600 XT was released, it was hailed as the most efficient GPU for mining. Now, with the impending launch of the non-XT variant, it looks like that title will be taken over by the cheapest Radeon RX 6000 GPU. According to the source, the RX 6600 delivers an Ether hash rate of 27.08 MH/s at stock, and a bit over 30 MH/s with the memory and clocks tuned. The XT variant manages 29 and 32 MH/s in the same scenarios.

The RX 6600 XT (tuned) draws around 55W of power while the RX 6600 Non-XT is expected to stay below the 50W ceiling. Compiling the numbers, we get the following comparison:

  • AMD RX 6600 XT (Tuned) – ~33 MH/s @ 55W (0.59 PPW)
  • AMD RX 6600 Non-XT (Tuned) – ~30 MH/s @ 50W (0.61 PPW)

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card is expected to feature the Navi 23 GPU with 28 Compute Units containing 1,792 shaders. Like the XT, it’ll be paired with 32 MB of L3 “Infinity Cache” and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit wide bus. This puts the overall bandwidth at 256 GB/s, placing the card just below the GeForce RTX 3060 in terms of raster performance.
