Xbox Hardware Revenue Grew by Nearly 2x in Q4 2020 (YoY)

Microsoft had yet another stellar quarter, with its gaming segment seeing massive gains compared to the previous year. The company’s gaming revenue hit $5,031 million in the last quarter of 2020, an increase of 51% or $1.7 billion YoY. Xbox content and services also saw a notable growth of 40% or $998 million YoY in revenue, thanks to Game Pass and a few select first-party games.

Now, for the interesting bit. Revenue from Xbox Hardware grew by nearly 2x in the last quarter. Thanks to the launch of the new Xbox Series X|S consoles, the earnings from hardware were up by 86% despite severe shortages and the supply failing to meet demand.

Here are some interesting stats about MS’s Q4 revenue:

  • Revenue was $43.1 billion and increased 17%
  • Operating income was $17.9 billion and increased 29%
  • Net income was $15.5 billion and increased 33%
