Will the metaverse determine the end of hardware?

We are heading with great speed toward a future dominated by virtual reality, by the metaverse, by an everyday reality marked no longer by interpersonal relationships between flesh-and-blood people but by virtual interactions between avatars that speak and move like us, imitating our behaviors as if they were real copies of ourselves.

The metaverse is a kind of huge virtual paradise in which it will be possible to play, work, socialize and have fun in a hyper-connected dimension to be experienced and experienced to the fullest as if the separation between physical and virtual reality no longer made sense.

From physical to virtual only

From an era dominated by physical, in which hybrid forms of physical and virtual reality are timidly beginning to merge, we will thus move to a virtual-only dimension, in which the mere idea of connecting to the Internet or searching for a Wi-Fi network to connect to will appear not only obsolete but downright ridiculous.

There will no longer be a need to search for Internet access because we will always be connected. The ebbs and flows of the network, for us, will take on the same importance as the air we breathe, becoming an integral part of our lives.

For companies, The metaverse represents, above all, an excellent opportunity to enrich the user experience they can offer their customers, making it more interactive than ever before and extremely immersive, capable of plunging deep into even the most hidden meanderings of the net. In short, this is a seemingly ethereal world in which there seems to be no more room for the physicality of hardware, for all those technological devices we have come to know so well in recent years.

Will the metaverse mark the end of the hardware-dominated era? Probably not, because the virtual worlds of the metaverse, in order to continue to exist and thrive-at least at an early stage of their existence-will still have to rely on the solidity of hardware and concrete supports that can guarantee an ultrafast Internet connection, capable of surpassing even the characteristics of 5G. In a sense, the transition to a virtual-only universe will be made possible by a set of hardware that will continue to power its activities, both from the point of view of connecting to the internet – about which there are still many doubts – and in terms of data storage, despite the enormous support offered by cloud computing technologies.

New developments

Within the metaverse, in the not too distant future, new forms of hardware may even emerge that could then be replicated in reality as well, especially if they meet with the approval and enthusiasm of network users (and their avatars, of course).

The example of Nike and its virtual platform Nikeland, from this point of view, could offer some interesting insights. Users visiting Nike’s platform in the future could also create virtual footwear and try it on themselves, on their avatar, as if they were in a store’s dressing room.

At that point, who would stop Nike from starting production of those same shoes in the real world, thus transferring them from the metaverse to the physical reality to which we have been accustomed so far? The possibilities of these new interconnected worlds, dominated by artificial intelligence and augmented reality, seem endless indeed.

For brands and companies around the world, who had only just begun to familiarise themselves with physical reality, suspended between the real and the virtual, a new wave of change is looming that will force them to once again redefine their operational strategies, throwing themselves headlong into a new virtual arena in which the relationships between people and things will no longer be the same.

The transition, of course, will be much easier for all those brands that have already successfully completed the transition from physical to virtual reality. These undoubtedly include some brands specializing in online gambling, which have managed to transfer all the emotions and experiences traditionally associated with physical casinos to the web.

Within these portals, one will find not only the best real money slots in the UK but also a whole selection of the best casino games currently on the net, complete with guides and tips focusing on the different features of the games. With an extremely facilitated user experience, almost as if it were an anticipation of the metaverse, users and players from all over the world will be able to quickly and easily find the game that best suits their tastes and their particular needs.

We are about to be catapulted into a magical virtual universe that will change our lives in unimaginable ways that we will probably never be able to fully understand.
