Western Digital today announced the launch of its budget TLC NVMe SSD, the SN700 (Red). The solid drive has an M.2 2280 connector and is aimed at NAS storage, as indicated by the Red branding. In terms of specifications, we’re looking at TLC NAND cells with storage capacities ranging from 250GB to 4TB. The SN700 has sequential read speeds of up to 3,400 MB/s and writes of up to 3,100 MB/s.
The WD Red SN700 uses the PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, supporting the NVMe 1.3 protocol. The 1TB variant can perform random reads/writes of up to 500,000 IOPs, with the sequential write being reduced to 3,000 MB/s.
