The Xbox Series X|S Sold 310,000 Units in the UK in 2020; PS5 Sold 450,000

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S consoles performed fairly well compared to the Sony PS5 in 2020 in terms of the sales figures. While the former sold around 310,000 units, the latter ended up with 450,000. These may seem like unimpressive figures, but let’s not forget that these account for just a couple of months of sales. Of course, the limited supply also skews the figures, but this is a marked improvement for the Xbox Team.

The Nintendo Switch came up on top with a total of approximately 1 million units sold in 2019. 2020 was even better for Nintendo as the sales increased by more than 50%, hitting the 1.5 million mark.

The PS4 sold roughly the same as the PS5 last year, with both the Sony consoles totaling 900,000 sold units. The PS4 sold a decent 700,000 units in 2019. On the other hand, the Series X|S sold slightly more than the One and One X combined, with an overall figure of 600,000. That’s 290,000 units for the older Xbox machines in 2020. In contrast, the Xbox One alone sold 500,000 units in 2019.

These are strong sales figures for both the consoles as we’re essentially looking at just a month of supply, plus some scattered shipments here and there. To sum up, Sony earned revenue of £191 million from the PS5 while Microsoft raked in £118 million from the Xbox Series consoles. The Switch, on the other hand, netted a massive £367.4 million.
