The Ascent (PC) Lacks NVIDIA DLSS and Ray Tracing if Played via Xbox Game Pass

The Ascent is one of the latest games to support ray-tracing (via DX12 DXR), alongside NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.2 upscaling technology. However, there’s a caveat. If you try to play the game via an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you won’t be able to take advantage of either of the features. While the option to turn on DLSS is completely missing, the ray-tracing settings don’t actually do anything.

The Ascent: DLSS is MISSING and RT is BROKEN? (RTX 2070, latest drivers, Game Pass version of game)

The Ascent supports ray-tracing only on PC, with neither the Xbox Series X nor S featuring the advanced rendering technology. Furthermore, as editing games packaged with Game Pass is nearly impossible, it makes it difficult to manually try to inject DLSS via the .dll file. For now, gamers using Game Pass to play the game will just have to wait for an update from the developers.
