Samsung 970 EVO Plus sells for a steep US$60 discount

Samsung’s vaunted 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD is now available at a steep US$60 discount. The 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus is currently selling on Amazon and Newegg for just US$189. While it’s a Gen3 SSD, you’re still getting remarkable speeds, with sequential reads at up to 3.5 GB/s and write speeds as high 3.3 GB/s. To put that in perspective, it’s substantially faster than the announced SSD for the Xbox Series X and not too far off from the PlayStation 5’s solution.

It’s not just the 1TB variant of the 970 EVO Plus that’s on sale, either. The 250GB model is also selling for just US$69. At that price, it’s very hard to pass up. What would you do with a 250GB SSD, though?

If you have an AMD Ryzen 3000 system on a B450 or newer motherboard, you could leverage the 970 EVO Plus 250GB, combined with a 7200 RPM HDD of your choice to create a powerful StoreMI hybrid drive. In our experience, StoreMI delivers SSD speeds in most games after a single slow load. You can buy the drive here.
