Sabrent to Launch 8TB Rocket 4 Plus Gen 4 SSD w/ Transfer Rates of up to 7,100 MB/s

If you’ve got a thing for fast storage, then this one is for you. There are plenty of SSDs offering up to 16GB of storage, but they are all limited by speed (capped at 3.5GB/s). And there’s always a need for speed. Luckily for us, Sabrent is launching its Rocket 4 Plus 8 TB SSD, which will increase both the speed and capacity of super-fast drives. We’re looking at 8 TB of SSD storage paired with a Gen 4 NVMe interface.

The Rocket Plus is based on TLC NAND flash, paired with the Phison PS5018-E18 controller, one of the most potent options on the market. Capable of sequential read speeds of up to 7GB.4/s and writes of 7.0 GB/s, it’s used by numerous Gen 4 SSDs. However, the Rocket 4 Plus 8 TB won’t max out the controller’s capabilities. It will top out at a sequential read speed of 7,100 MB/s, and a write of 6,600 MB/s.

There’s no word on when the drive will be launched, but you can always guess. Since the 4 TB variant costs $900, the 8 TB model should easily approach the $1,500 mark.
