Resident Evil 4 may be getting a Remake, Dev team larger than the previous Remakes’

Hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed RE2 Remake and the not so critically acclaimed but commercially successful RE3 Remake, Capcom has reportedly already been working on getting the holy grail of Resident Evil games, that is RE4, remade.

A no-brainer move on the commercial front, many long time fans are of the notion though that RE4 is a masterpiece that still holds its own to date and doesn’t need a remake as of yet. There are no reports as of yet of a possible Code Veronica remake but judging by the timeline I highly suspect there to be one.

Sources say the remake will be primarily handled by the Japanese game developer M-Two with support from Capcom. To this end, the reliable insider Dusk Golem has revealed that Resident Evil 4 Remake is going to be a much bigger remake than the other series remakes seen so far, as the development team is the largest ever put together by Capcom.

According to him, M-Two was put together to develop this highly-anticipated remake, and their involvement in the development of the Resident Evil 3 remake was intended to give them some practice.

Dusk Golem also mentioned that the project was being talked about even before the development of RE2 and RE3 Remakes began two years ago. M-Two is also going to be supported by parts of the Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry 5 ‘s Dev Teams, indicating the larger scope of this project.

Following on that, another tidbit of information reveals that the original game’s celebrated director and horror connoisseur Shinji Mikami will be providing a lending hand though not being directly involved. It was reportedly through his talks with Capcom that led to the project finally being green-lit as well.

That being said, the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise is going to be Resident Evil 8, rumored for release sometime next year if the pandemic doesn’t push it back, which in itself is going to be an upgrade to what was originally planned to be RE Revelations 3 due to a very positive response by internal testers.

The game will be built using the well-received RE Engine and will probably release around 2022.
