Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Broken Mess on PC

Rockstar Games used the same release pattern for Red Dead Redemption 2 as it did with GTA V, releasing the game on consoles first followed by a PC port a year later, no doubt to bolster overall sales. However, unlike the former, the RDR2 is a terrible port. There are crashes, performance issues and sometimes the game fails to even launch.

It’s impossible to yield 60 FPS at the ultra quality preset (dubbed as favor quality) even with a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti at 4K. The benchmarking tool is broken and freezes halfway-through whenever you try running it at the max preset.

What’s worse is that Rockstar has thrown in options like ultra-high LOD, reflection MSAA, Ambient Occlusion resolution and 40 more, making it incredibly difficult to find the right settings for your PC. We’re in the process of testing a bunch of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards using the game and will have the benchmark results up soon, along with the optimal settings. Stay tuned!
