NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 Around Twice as Fast as the RTX 3090 in Leaked Benchmark: No Delay in Launch Schedule [Rumor]

NVIDIA’s next-gen Lovelace flagship will be an absolute monster, offering twice as much performance as its Ampere predecessor. According to @kopite7kimi (Twitter), the GeForce RTX 4090 will be roughly 200% faster than the RTX 3090. The former reportedly scores over 19,000 points in 3DMark Firestike Extreme, compared to “just” 10,000 on the latter.

For now, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti featuring the full-fledged AD102 die tops the Firestrike Extreme benchmark with approximately 11,000 points. AMD’s fastest GPU, the RX 6950 XT scores somewhere between the two depending on the AIB variant tested. It’s worth noting that the source believes that 19,000 is a conservative figure so the actual GPU may very well end up being over 2x faster than the RTX 3090 and the 3090 Ti.

Furthermore, it looks like the RTX 40 series cards will be clocked over 3GHz with the exception of the absolute highest-end SKUs such as the RTX 4090 and the 4090 Ti. These chips will be clocked somewhere between 2.5-3.0GHz to allow for sufficient thermal dissipation with these massive dies.

Finally, there’s the matter of the launch dates. Kimi states that the (as far as he knows) RTX 4090 launch is still on track for September, followed by the RTX 4080 in October. The midrange RTX 4070, however, may be pushed back a month or two.
