NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 Nets 70 FPS in Diablo IV at 4K without Ray Tracing, 177 FPS with DLSS 3

DLSS 3 is really turning out to be a game-changer for NVIDIA. It’s been less than a year since it came out, and every major release of 2023 already has it. Modders have implemented it in games with DLSS 2 and FSR 3 support using the same data points in Streamline. Diablo IV is the latest title to support DLSS 3, more than doubling the output performance.

At 4K Ultra (without ray-tracing), the GeForce RTX 4090 delivers 95 FPS on average while the RTX 4080 nets 70.5 FPS. Upon enabling DLSS 3, they get bumped up to 229 FPS and 177.5 FPS, respectively. The RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti don’t cut it at 4K, both delivering less than 60 FPS on average. DLSS 3 pushes the two 70-class GPUs past 100 FPS with the 4070 Ti approaching the 150 FPS mark. For perspective, we’re looking at a ~2.5x boost across the board.

We see some crazy numbers with DLSS 3 at 1440p. The RTX 4070 yields a very respectable 91 FPS at 1440p Ultra but DLSS 3 buoys it to nearly 175 FPS. The RTX 4070 Ti gets bumped up from 91 FPS to 207 FPS while the RTX 4080 attains 275 FPS (up from 170 FPS). Lastly, the RTX 4090 runs at a whopping 335 FPS, all the way up from 181 FPS at native 2K.
