NVIDIA’s RTX 3080 Ti is Slower than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT in Ashes Escalation

As always, right before the official launch, the benchmark results of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in Ashes Escalation have leaked out. Turns out the top-end Ampere gaming GPU is slower than AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 XT in this game. Although this isn’t all that surprising considering that the GPU is based on the same GA102 die as the RTX 3080 and 3090, it does confirm that it won’t be much faster than the RTX 3080.

The game was tested at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K on the Crazy graphics quality preset alongside a Ryzen 9 3900X and was marginally slower than the Radeon RX 6800 XT. The RTX 3080 Ti scored 8,700 points at 4K while the RX 6800 XT edges past with 9,000 points. The delta is lower at 1080p, with the former scoring 9,300 points and the latter 9,400. At 1440p, the gap between the two is highest with the RTX 3080 Ti pegged at 9,100 points and the 6800 XT at 9,600 points.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is scheduled to launch on the 4th of June 4. Similar to the RTX 3080, it will be based on the GA102 die with 10,240 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory. It’s likely going to be priced at $999, similar to the RTX 2080 Ti.
