NVIDIA to Launch 8GB Variant of the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X Memory [Rumor]

NVIDIA will launch updated RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti variants with changed memory configurations in the coming months. The former will feature a reduced 8GB memory buffer alongside a 256-bit bus interface, and the RTX 3060 Ti will replace the 14Gbps GDDR6 modules with much faster 19Gbps GDDR6X chips. This move is reportedly associated with the excess Ampere inventory.

The updated configurations should help clear existing inventory faster by leveraging the higher-end GA104 die. Both the GPUs will get a higher memory bandwidth, although the RTX 3060’s memory cut might cost in certain high-texture games.

According to ITHome, the RTX 3060 8GB will launch with an MSRP of $300 sometime next month. The RTX 4090 is slated to land on the 12th of October, followed by the RTX 4080 (16GB) in November and 12GB in December.
