NVIDIA Russia Accused of Selling RTX 3080s to “Privileged” Consumers

In another Ampere debacle, it turns out that the launch of the RTX 30 series graphics cards in Russia was canceled, but somehow certain “privileged” consumers were able to buy the units indirectly. Most of these folks had some close ties with the store or have some high social standing.

When a user tried contacting NVIDIA Russia about this, the evidence started disappearing and the GCM hid his account, with the company stating its usual thing:

At the moment in Russia, as in the rest of the world, the demand for GeForce RTX 30 products significantly exceeds the available supply.

NVIDIA Online Stores around the world operate in reduced functionality mode. And we are working with partners to improve product availability in the coming weeks. We will share all the necessary information in our community. Stay tuned for updates. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

It appears that the community manager of NVIDIA Russia was aware of these off-store sales to select buyers and nothing had been done regarding it up until now. You can go through the original thread on Reddit.
