NVIDIA RTX Voice App: NVIDIA’s AI Solution to Eliminate Background Noise in Online Calls

If you’ve ever dabbled in the activity of online video/audio calling or conferencing, it’s probably gotten pretty obvious by now that not everyone has the ideal microphone and/or background noises. With the current lockdown situation across most of the world, that’s a pretty noticeable hindrance if you’ve to deal with it on a daily basis.

There are apps for that, Discord has an in-built beta too, but NVIDIA’s RTX Voice App makes use of those sweet Tensor cores on your GeForce RTX GPU (if you have one) and combines it with an AI-based noise-cancellation algorithm to try and achieve much better results than the usual hard-coded one. It isn’t exactly ray-tracing your voice though, that’d be an interesting feature if any.

NVIDIA RTX Voice additionally boasts keyboard noise cancellation as well, so that those clicky mechanical keyboards are not able to ruin your peaceful online reunion. It cancels out background noise, ambient noise, keyboard typing and more, giving whoever is listening to you a nice clean signal.

Here’s the additional game-changer, it can also cancel incoming noises in the voice, meaning anyone without the best microphone setup or silent rooms can still sound great. It’ll AI-process the incoming voice signal and pass it on to your headphones/speakers.

The following apps are compatible with the current beta:

  • OBS Studio
  • XSplit Broadcaster
  • XSplit Gamecaster
  • Twitch Studio
  • Discord
  • Google Chrome
  • WebEx
  • Skype
  • Zoom
  • Slack

Nvidia also specified that RTX Voice output may be troublesome on WebEx, Skype, Zoom and Slack.
