NVIDIA RTX 4090 1.5x to 2x Faster, RTX 4080 Slower than the RTX 3090 Ti in Non-Ray Traced Games

NVIDIA’s next-gen GeForce RTX 4090 is an absolute monster of a GPU. According to first-party figures from the chipmaker, the Ada Lovelace flagship is mostly 70-90% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti in non-RT titles. Meanwhile, titles with ray-tracing and DLSS 3.0 can be a whopping 4x faster than the present Ampere flagship.

It’s worth noting that the RTX 4080 12GB is slower than the RTX 3090 Ti in more than one game, including the Resident Evil Village, Assassins’ Creed Valhalla, and The Division 2. And these are first-party benchmarks to boot. The RTX 4080 16GB is 20-90% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti in non ray-traced titles, and 2-3x faster in games with ray-tracing. Meanwhile, the 12GB variant has a lead of 2-2.5x over the RTX 3090 Ti. The RTX 40 series GPUs shine the most in ray-traced (NVIDIA partner) titles such as Portal, and Cyberpunk where the RTX 4090 is 2.5x to over 3x faster than the RTX 3090 Ti.

Here are a few shots of the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition. As you can see, it has put on quite a bit of weight due to the pandemic.
