NVIDIA RTX 4080 vs RTX 3080 Ti vs RTX 4090 4K Ray Tracing Gaming Benchmarks

The GeForce RTX 4080 reviews are still a week away, but courtesy of @Zed__Wang, we have gotten an early look at its 4K gaming performance. We decided to compare these figures with the ones from our RTX 4090 review and got some satisfying results. Unlike on paper, the RTX 4080 isn’t far behind its pricier sibling in most titles, including ray-tracing.

Starting with Shadow of the Tomb Raider (at 4K Ultimate with ray-traced shadows and DLSS), the RTXslightly is a bit over 20% faster than the RTX 4080. Compared to the RTX 3080 Ti, you get a 40% smoother gaming experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 is easily the most intensive game we’ve tested. The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti registers an average FPS of 65 at the 4K Ultra RT present. (valium) The RTX 4080 and 4090 lead by a margin of 27% and 40%, respectively, allowing for genuinely lag-free gameplay.

Forza Horizon 5 is another title where the RTX 4080 and 4090 are separated by a delta of less than 20%. We also have the 4K benchmarks from Far Cry 5, Assassins’ Creed: Valhalla, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Unfortunately, we don’t have the performance figures of the 4090 for these titles, but you can compare it with your hardware using the below results:
