NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti vs 4080 Gaming Benchmarks

While AMD plays the waiting game, NVIDIA has launched most of its 40-series Ada Lovelace graphics cards. The RTX 4060 Ti is set to land next week, targeting the midrange gaming market. It’ll be a 1080p and 1440p GPU, following the RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti. Before the launch, we’d like to have another look at the RTX 4070 Ti and see how it compares to the 4080.

NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti vs 4080 1440p Benchmarks

The performance deltas between the RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti vary greatly from game to game. In Dying Light 2, the former beats the latter by a massive margin of over 40%. However, it’s only 14% and 7% in Assassins’ Creed and Crysis Remastered, respectively. The deltas grow by a notch in ray-traced games, as the 4080 beats the 4070 Ti by 48% in “A Plague Tale”.

Cyberpunk 2077 sees the deltas shrink to 20% and 30% in raster and ray-traced modes, respectively. The RTX 4080 is 45% faster than the 4070 Ti in Dying Light 2 but only 24% faster with ray tracing enabled.

In F1 2022, the 4080 is only 8% faster than its sibling, leading by 18% with ray-tracing enabled. Interestingly, Ghostwire: Tokyo performs nearly the same on both GPUs with and without ray tracing.

Hitman 3 and Hogwarts Legacy behave similarly, with a delta of less than 10% across all four tests.

The RTX 4080 is 34% faster than the RTX 4080 in Metro Exodus, leading it by 11% (raster) to 17% (ray-tracing) in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

The Callisto Protocol produces similar numbers. The RTX 4080 is 22% and 12% faster than the 4070 Ti with and without ray-tracing, respectively. Tina Tina’s Wonderlands is an exception, with a delta of 35% between the two GPUs.

In conclusion, the GeForce RTX 4080 isn’t a good pick for 1440p gaming. The RTX 4070 Ti delivers comparable performance while costing $300 less.
