NVIDIA RTX 3070 is 3x Faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT in Cyberpunk 2077 w/ Ray-Tracing

CD Projekt Red recently released a major patch for Cyberpunk 2077 aimed at fixing some of the more widespread issues plaguing the game. For PC users, one of the major additions was support for ray-tracing on AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, although the lack of DLSS (or an alternative) still means that it’s more or less unusable. I got a chance to test the newly launched RX 6700 XT with the game and the results were less than impressive (they were straight-up terrible):

Yes, the similarly priced RTX 3070 was more than three times faster than the Radeon RX 6700 XT and this is even without DLSS. The latter managed just 25 FPS at 1080p ray-tracing ultra while the RTX 3070 was comfortably over 75 FPS on average with lows in the mid-50s. The 6700 XT regularly dipped below 20 FPS whenever there was a bit of action on-screen:

Even the frame pacing was notably smoother with the RTX 3070 while the RX 6700 XT was all over the place with varying frame times through the course of the benchmark. Looking at these results, it doesn’t look like the latter would catch with its competitor even with the help of an upscaling technology, it’s just that bad. (Birth control) This could very well be the result of unoptimized code as Cyberpunk 2077 (like the Witcher 3) is an NVIDIA partner title. We’ve reached out to AMD and will update this post as we hear more.
