NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ultra to be Faster than the RTX 3060 Ti: Priced at $449 [Rumor]

According to a report from WCCFTech, NVIDIA is working on three variants of the GeForce RTX 3060: The vanilla 3060, the 3060 Ti, and the 3060 Ultra, in order of increasing performance. The RTX 3060 will come with a 6GB VRAM buffer, the 3060 Ti with 8GB, and the 3080 Ultra with 12GB. Apart from the VRAM, the bus interface of these cards will also be different. The RTX 3060 and the 3060 Ultra will both feature a 192-bit bus while the 3060 Ti will be paired with a wider 256-bit bus.

However, as per the outlet, the RTX 3060 Ultra will be faster than the RTX 3060 Ti. Considering that the latter will be based on the GA104 die, same as the RTX 3070 and a wider bus, that’s a bit hard to digest so we aren’t sure what to make of it.

The GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra is going to be based on the smaller GA106 die and is will reportedly slot in between the RTX 3060 Ti/Super and the RTX 3070. It may get faster memory, but the bus interface is unlikely to change. This is similar to how the GeForce GTX 1650 had several variants last gen, but the RTX 3060 is a much more high-profile card likely to cost twice as much.

NVIDIA will likely announce the RTX 3060 Ultra during its CES 2020 keynote on the 12th of January. It’s unclear whether the vanilla RTX 3060 will be announced on the same day or on a later date.
