NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti Specs Leak Out: 4,864 Shaders and 8GB of GDDR6 to Welcome Navi 2x

In line with our earlier reporting, the specs of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti have once again surfaced on the internet. The RTX 3060 Ti is expected to launch ahead of the RTX 3060, right in time for Navi 2x with about 38 SMs or 4,864 shaders paired with 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

Like the RTX 3070, the 3060 Ti will also be based on the GA104 GPU. While the former includes 46 working SMs or 5,888 cores, the latter will be a minor downgrade with 38 SMs or 4,864 cores. As for a potential RTX 3070 Ti/Super, it should feature 16GB of GDDR6 memory and up to 46 SMs. The bus width and bandwidth should remain unchanged. Here’s a summary of the Ampere family:

GA102 – 84 SM @ 384 Bit GDDR6X

  • GeForce RTX 3090 – 82 SM @ 384 bit, 24 GB GDDR6X, 350W TDP, $ 1499
  • GeForce RTX 3080 – 68 SM @ 320 bit, 10 GB GDDR6X, 320W TDP, $ 699

GA104 – 48 SM @ 256 Bit GDDR6

  • GeForce RTX 3070 Ti – 48 SM @ 256-bit, 16 GB GDDR6, 250W TDP, $549
  • GeForce RTX 3070 – 46 SM @ 256 bit, 8 GB GDDR6, 220W TDP, $ 499
  • GeForce RTX 3060 Ti – 38 SM @ 256 bit, 8 GB GDDR6, 180W TDP, $ 399?

Earlier, Jeff Fisher, SVP of Gaming for NVIDIA had something similar to say about the budget Ampere graphics cards. Talking to analysts, he said that we’ll soon be seeing newer GPUs (devices) based on the Ampere architecture. Compared to Turing the gap between the launch dates of the higher-end and budget-oriented GPUs should be much smaller.

“As you know, we take a great deal at trying to take care of our channel, and we wanted to make sure that we had sold through prior product before we rolled out some new generation products at certain price points. With Ampere, the channel’s healthy and the business is strong. (www.easyvet.com) And we are prepared for a pretty healthy cadence of rolling out new devices. I think you’ll see Ampere’s cadence of new parts to be faster than what you saw on Turing.”

“Whenever we launch a new product and as compelling as Ampere is, there will no doubt be shortage of product. We just can’t — you can’t ramp a fab to follow that front load of demand of new buyers that quickly. So that said, we have a great relationship with Samsung. The product is in volume production. We’ve begun shipping to our channel partners, and you will start — you will see volume product hitting the shelf starting on the dates that we’ve announced. And it will — naturally, as the entire supply chain ramps continue to grow as we get toward the holiday season.”
