NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti Expected to Launch on 17th Nov: Slightly Slower than the RTX 2080 Ti @ $349-399

With both the top-end Ampere and Navi 2 graphics cards announced, it’s time for the budget parts to be unveiled. The first one to take the stage will likely be the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti: a cut-down variant of the GA104 core, featuring 4,864 FP32 shaders (1,024 less than the RTX 3070) and the same 8GB of GDDR6 memory, paired with a 256-bit bus.

The boost clocks will likely be slightly lower than the RTX 3070 to ensure that it doesn’t come too close to the latter. Mydrivers reports a base clock of 1410MHz and a boost of 1665MHz (RTX 3070 tops out at 1.73GHz).

As for the price, it’ll likely cost somewhere between $349 and $399, depending on how AMD’s lower-end RDNA 2 GPUs fare. The Radeon RX 6700 and 6700 XT are supposed to compete with the RTX 3060 and the 3060 Ti respectively, featuring the same core counts as their predecessors, but higher boost clocks and a better IPC. The presence of Infinity Cache in this segment is uncertain. However, considering the cut-down 192-bit bus, we might see a smaller 64MB block.

Just a year ago, the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti was the fastest GPU with a price of $999. Today, we have the RTX 3070 beating it at half the price and the upcoming RTX 3060 Ti approaching it at just 30-35% of the total MSRP. Just goes on to show how competition or the lack thereof affects an industry.
