NVIDIA Reportedly Launched DLSS 2.2 w/ Rainbow Six Siege: Improved Image Quality and Better Detail

NVIDIA announced DLSS 2.0 support for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege a few days back. At first sight, the game seems to feature a standard DLSS 2.0 implementation, but some users have noticed that it actually leverages a higher tier/version 2.2 of the technology. The “nvngx_dlss.dll” file of Six Siege which is responsible for enabling DLSS in the games has a higher version (2.2) than existing DLSS 2.0 titles. Interestingly, you can replace the existing .dll file in older titles with the one from Six Siege to see notable improvements in quality.

However, I tried doing the same with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and couldn’t find any difference between the two versions. Furthermore, the game was quite choppy when run with the .dll file from RSS. However, Redditors have noticed subtle gains in image quality when used in Death Stranding. Most notably, it removed the dark trails that appear in the sky with the original DLSS 2.0 implementation.

It also improves the overall texture sharpness, but at the same time seems to suffer from artifacts of its own. Similar results were observed in Necromunda Hired Gun, with subtle but fairly noticeable improvements to the image quality. It also reduced the aim ghosting which is a major cause for concern in FPS. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War also reportedly benefits from this nifty tweak.
