NVIDIA Reportedly Drops Price of the RTX 2060 to Tackle the Radeon RX 5600 XT

AMD launched the Radeon RX 5600 XT yesterday alongside the Ryzen 4000 APU lineup, offering better performance than the competing GTX 1660 Ti at the same price point. This also puts it directly in contention with the RTX 2060 which is only slightly faster while costing a whole $100 more. It seems that NVIDIA is now reacting to the RX 5600 XT by dropping the price of the RTX 2060 to $299, just a few dozen bucks more than the former.

It appears that NVIDIA is launching a new series of RTX 2060 cards for just $299 to counter the RX 5600 XT. EVGA’s GeForce RTX 2060 KO Edition is one of the first such GPUs.

The KO Edition was spotted at CES 2020 at EVGA’s booth. It is smaller than the vanilla 2060 and features the same aluminum heatsink as the GTX 1660 Super SC. Two fans cool the GPU, the same as most of the other RTX cards from the OEM. You also get a backplate and three ports for output: one HDMI, DVI, and a DP. It needs an 8-pin power connector like all the other 2060s.

The GeForce RTX 2060 is around 15-20% faster than the GTX 1660 Super and as such should be ahead of the RX 5600 XT by ~5-10% (while costing another $100). No wonder, NVIDIA decided to drop the sticker price.
