Things aren’t looking too good for the GeForce RTX 4070. According to news from the supply chain, NVIDIA has stopped supplying the RTX 4070 GPUs to its board partners to clear up the channel inventory. This is a more lucrative approach than letting the prices of the cards drop below MSRP. Shipments were expected to return to normal in May but things aren’t looking too good, and the blockade may continue for another month.
Recently, the GeForce RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, 4080, and 4090 were discounted by over 20% in China and this can be seen as a direct response. If the supply is limited, the demand stays in check, as does the pricing. Looking at popular retailers, the RTX 4070 doesn’t appear among bestsellers, except Amazon.
The MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 12GB and ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 12GB come in at #3 and #9, respectively. The RTX 4070 is completely absent from the bestsellers lineup on Newegg and BHPhotoVideo.
Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and 4090 continue to register multiple instances across the bestselling charts of every major retailer. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is slated to launch next week at an MSRP of $399, making it the first Lovelace GPU to cost the same as its predecessor.
