NVIDIA Limits Mining Performance of Alternate Coins (Ergo, Ether Classic) in Addition to Ethereum

NVIDIA has stepped up its campaign against miners. With the launch of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the mining block has been extended to some of the other cryptocurrencies, most notably Ether Classic and Ergo. Octopus and Raven which are two of the most profitable currencies after Ether are untouched, however.

Like Ethereum, Ether Classic and Ergo have had their hash rates cut in more than half. The older developer driver that allowed mining on the RTX 3060 causes BSODs while flashing the firmware of engineering samples isn’t possible either. It’ll be interesting to see if this nerf holds up or whether some of the most intuitive miners can find a workaround.
