NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 Super For Laptops Coming Soon; On Par with Desktop Non-Supers

It seems like NVIDIA is looking to introduce a bunch of new mobile graphics cards in the coming months. This info comes from WCCFTech and Twitter detective, _rogame. According to the sources, NVIDIA is planning to launch six new GPUs for gaming laptops alongside Intel’s 10th Gen Comet Lake-H lineup. These new laptops will hit retail in April. Let’s dig into the details.

Updated GeForce GTX 1650 and 1650 Ti

We’ve already discussed this before. Basically NVIDIA is planning to replace the mobile GTX 1650 with an updated version, featuring GDDR6 memory. However, at the same time, this new variant might also have a lower core count (14 SMs vs 16).

The GTX 1650 Ti, on the other hand, is going to be a lower clocked GTX 1650 with the same old GDDR5 memory. We’re not sure why NVIDIA is doing this but it’s probably something to do with the intensifying competition in the mobile market. Both Intel and AMD are going to launch new GPUs in the coming months. The Tiger Lake CPUs with 96 EUs are going to make the MX lineup obsolete while the first wave of Xe GPUs will probably operate in a slightly higher territory, targeting the GTX 1050 Ti and Radeon RX 560X.

GeForce RTX 2060 Super for Mobility Space

According to _rogame, the RTX 2060 Super (laptop version) will feature the same 2304 shader count, but the clocks will be lower, and the memory will also be slower (11Gbps vs 12 on the desktop part).

The NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super mobile should be slightly faster than the desktop RTX 2060 and a notch below its desktop counterpart.

GeForce RTX 2070 Super & 2080 Super for Mobile

The RTX 2070 Super and 2080 Super for laptops will be similar to the 2060 S. Same core counts but a lower core and memory clock. This should put these GPUs in the same ballpark as the desktop non-Supers, slower than the original RTX 2070 and 2080 Super.

Revised RTX 2060 and 2070 for Mobile

WCCFTech further reports that the existing RTX 2060 and 2070 mobility versions are going to get a small update, most likely higher clock or binned versions, offering better performance at the same price points. While we haven’t been able to confirm this, given what NVIDIA is doing with the GTX 1650 and 1650 Ti, there’s a good chance this is happening.
