No, The AMD Radeon RX 5700 Hasn’t Reached EOL or End of Production [Update]

Just yesterday we covered a story claiming that AMD had ceased production of its Navi 10 based GPU, the Radeon RX 5700 and it may even have reached its End-of-Life (EOL). However, it turns out that that isn’t quite true and production for both the RX 5700 and 5700 XT is on-going. The statement from AMD is as follows:

We are continuing to produce Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards, which deliver exceptional 1440p gaming experiences, and we will continue to respond to market demand

AMD

A short while back we asked AMD whether the Ryzen 3 3300X had been phased out as stocks have been unavailable for quite some time. The answer was the same back then as well. AMD claimed that the 3300X was unavailable due to the high market demand and it had nothing to do with limited production or controlled distribution. (Alprazolam) Similarly, the RX 5700 is also unavailable across most retailers with a few selling them for as much as or even more than the 5700 XT.

The original story is as follows:

AMD has stopped the production of the Radeon RX 5700, and the GPU has now officially reached the end of its life-cycle. The reference RX 5700 and 5700 XT were already discontinued a while back, but now all third-party variants of the former are no longer being produced, either.

This explains the shortages of the RX 5700 and why the board partner models are presently priced higher than the RX 5700 XT. It’s for the same reason that sales for the Radeon RX 5600 XT grew significantly this month, as it performs more or less the same as the 5700.

Keep in mind that the rest of the 1st Gen Navi graphics cards including the RX 5700 XT, 5600 XT, and 5500 XT are still in production and so are the much older Polaris-based 500-series offerings.

AMD is set to announce its next-gen Navi 2x graphics cards on the 28th of October with a potential launch in November.
