MSI Shares Ether Mining Hash Rate of its RTX 3080 (Mobile) Powered GE76 Raider Gaming Laptop

In a rather surprising blogpost, MSI has shared the mining capabilities of one of its latest gaming laptops, the GE76 Raider. The laptop in question comes equipped with an Intel Core i9-10980HK CPU and the GeForce RTX 3080 mobile GPU. (Provigil) MSI is going with the easy-to-use, but not the most profitable mining platform (NiceHash) which is extremely easy to set up but doesn’t provide the highest returns.

The GeForce RTX 3080 mobile is essentially a desktop RTX 3070 with tuned down clocks and performs roughly the same hash rate of 53 MH/s with the popular Ether mining DaggerHashimoto algorithm and should easily result in daily revenue of $4-5.

However, the data provided by MSI shows a negative mining profit with the GE76 Raider Gaming which is likely the result of the laptop choking on the slower memory and power limits. Considering that CPU mining is a waste of energy and is likely contributing to the lower hash rate for the GPU, it’s surprising that MSI has kept it on in the below image.

It’s just a bizarre post aimed at encouraging mining using the company’s latest gaming laptops, with the included images showing negative profitability.
