Intel Rocket Lake-S Core i7 (8 Core) Just 5-6% Faster than AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12 Core) in Gaming [Leak]

A gaming benchmark of Intel’s 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S based Core i7 CPU has been leaked by a Spanish outlet, Geeknetic. This leak pits Intel’s new eight-core flagship against the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, beating it by just a few frames.

As you can see in the below benchmark, the Rocket Lake part scores an average of 156.5 FPS and a low of 75.5 FPS. The Zen 3 based Ryzen 9 chip, on the other hand, tops out at 147.4 FPS (6-7% slower) with roughly the same lows (74.96 FPS).

However, if you look at the below benchmark from ComputerBase, you’ll see that the Core i9-10900K is already faster than all the Ryzen 5000 CPUs in this game, though not by much.

You can make two conclusions from this benchmark. First, this is a best-case scenario, and second that Rocket Lake-S won’t be that much faster than Comet Lake-S, at least in gaming. Overall, this means that the Ryzen 5000 CPUs and the new Rocket Lake lineup will be more or less on par in gaming workloads, with the former winning in heavily threaded tasks like content creation and rendering.
